This year’s regatta will again feature racing
for master, junior and collegiate rowers on our fully buoyed, 7-lane Dexter Lake race course. A tentative race schedule is available at www.regattacentral.com. Saturday, April 14th - races for juniors, colleges, masters. Coaches' and coxswains' meeting at 6:15 under the picnic shelter. Races all day from 7:30 AM until about 5 PM. Sunday, April 15th - races for juniors, masters. Coaches' and coxswains' meeting at 7:00 AM under the picnic shelter. Races from about 8 AM until 1 PM. Enter at www.RegattaCentral.com. Deadline!!!! April 6th. You will also find a preliminary schedule of events there. Look for a 'final' schedule after April 8th. With the exception of single sculls events ($20),
all events will cost $10/seat (coxswains free). There will be no fee cap per
team. In addition we must collect a $1.00 per athlete Oregon State Parks Usage Fee. Updates and real-time results will be available at

racing, we are offering the Dexter Dash and Dinner (D3) on Friday late afternoon. The Dash is a ‘ham ‘n egger’ style 500 meter relay for
masters sweep rowers of all skill categories. You enter, we set the
line-ups and
everyone wins a catered dinner immediately following the racing.

Dash Relay: The main focus of the Dash is fun and camaraderie. Relay teams will consist of eights-only this year. Boat, seat and relay-team assignments will be made by the regatta directors at the coxswains/rowers meeting. All boatings will be assigned at the meeting. Sweep rowers without enough teammates to field an eight are encouraged to enter and will be incorporated into lineups at the meeting. Clubs are asked to make available a coxswain and eight-oared shell for every four sweep rowers they enter. Dinner: A scrumptious lasagna dinner (included in your $20 per person entry fee) will be offered immediately following the racing, under the picnic shelter. A vegetarian entrée alternative will be available. Non-rowing spouses and friends are welcome at the dinner for $12 per person and should be noted on the entry. will be limited parking at Lowell State Park for trailers, large buses, team
vans. Due to increased participation, some trailers, etc. must be parked
offsite after unloading. Please reserve a parking spot by emailing j_juhlin@efn.org (or call Jon at 541-517-6693).
All other vehicles (including tow
vehicles) of participants and spectators must park in the town of Lowell, which
is a 10-15 minute walk from the park. A free
shuttle bus will run between the park and town on Saturday only. There is no parking on Pengra road. Trailers
and boats may be left overnight in the park’s parking lot adjacent to the
launch area. The gate will be locked at
9:00 PM each night. The lot will be supervised, but equipment is
left at your own risk. We encourage all teams to arrive on Friday to unload boats and equipment and maybe take a practice
row. Be aware,
however, the boats entered in the Dash will be warming up and racing on the
course on Friday, late afternoon. Please stay off the course and in the marked practice area.
Volunteers There are less than 100 members in O.A.R. and the regatta takes about 1000 volunteer-hours to put on. Camping is allowed only on Friday, April 13th and Saturday April14th. Tent camping is limited to the oak grove area. No camping on the beach. No open fires. All campers must secure a camping permit by payment of a $2.50 per-camper per-night Oregon State Park's Camping Fee, payable at www.RegattaCentral.com on the CBR registration page. Featured Merchants at the Covered Bridge Regatta Ed Offchiss Trophy - Senior Men's Single Rowing TrophyEd and his wife Cindi moved to Eugene with their two boys, Jesse and Cody, in the summer of 2002. Moving from New Haven, Connecticut, where they had both rowed for years, they chose Eugene in part for the rowing environment and the community. They both joined OAR shortly after arriving. Ed was known by many in the rowing community as he had rowed on both coasts and overseas. He touched many of our lives in the short time we knew him—filling a vacant seat, offering rowing tips and witty comments, or just plain helping out when needed. Ed passed away while racing in Portland’s Row For The Cure in 2003. We all miss Ed and remember him as a good friend and caring team member. The perpetual trophy, presented to the winner of the master men’s single event, is designed by Ed’s son Jesse in collaboration with Eugene artist and OAR member Debbe Cornitius. |
